Poppy @ Paris Le Web conference!

(fullsize pict)

We are back from three days at Paris Le Web, Stephane, David and myself.

France Television had kindly invited the Poppy team within a bunch of other participants presenting some innovative projects. Inria get the opportunity to present seven of the sixteen hosted projects.

We were given a very good place at the center of the booth so no one could miss Poppy

Poppy got a lot of attention and we had many occasions to explain the purpose of the project. We also evangelized many journalists and bloggers by disseminating our openness & ecosystems message.

We upgraded Poppy with the really nice Mateo’s voice from Voxygen. We sat one Poppy on a stand articulating a realtime newsfeed - provided via News’innov startup technology - all day long during our staying.

David Forgeron from the fablab of La Cité des Sciences came with a 3D printer so he could show the public a real Poppy part fabrication process - I broke the left Poppy leg while installing the booth - and explain them what the Makers movement is about.

The second Poppy was used for making demos and presentations to the public. As the people we met were mainly journalists and bloggers we guess that this event will leverage our PR impact.

Sometimes we saw some strange/funny things…

Playtime…
